Alan Lusty

CEO, adi Group

Alan Lusty is CEO of the adi Group, a multi-disciplinary engineering firm with 30 years’ experience. Growing the business from a one-man band to a 30-armed service offering, Alan is one of Britain’s brightest business leaders and an influential figure in British manufacturing. 

He is part of the leadership board for Business in the Community, a Princes of Wales-backed organisation that champions responsible business. As a former apprentice, Alan understands the importance of passing on skills to the next generation, a standpoint that has fuelled his efforts in providing placements for disadvantaged individuals as well as the next generation of engineers through the BITC’s Business Class programme.

Under Alan’s watchful eye, the adi Group continues to grow from strength to strength offering services and engineering solutions to large UK and Irish blue-chip manufacturers. To this day, Alan continues to bring new engineering disciplines into the fold, at an approximate rate of one every 12 to 18 months, and with a 2021 turnover £120m

Paul Smith

Chief Operating Officer, adi Group

Paul is adi Group’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). Paul is responsible for operational oversight of all of adi Group’s Operating Divisions and for delivering both strong business growth and excellent client satisfaction.

Paul joined adi from Wood PLC, where he was responsible for the Life Sciences, Process Industry and Clean Energy businesses in the EMEA region. Prior to that, Paul was Managing Director of PM Group, a Life Sciences specialist consultant and before that Head of Operations for BakerHicks, part of the Morgan Sindall Group. Paul has spent much of the rest of his career at Jacobs where he ran the UK Process Business as Vice President.

In a career spanning nearly 30 years,  Paul has delivered world-Scale Projects across the world with blue-chip Consultancies, Engineering Design Houses and Constructors and has a reputation in leadership of high technology and regulated businesses. He has scoped, negotiated and executed complex projects and  values up to £2.5 billion in sectors including Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Nuclear Engineering, Defence, Power, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Food, Infrastructure, R&D and Biotechnology.

A Chartered Process Engineer by degree, Paul holds an MBA from Henley Management School.

James Sopwith

Group Strategic Account Director, adi Projects

James has worked in the manufacturing sector for over 25 years. And as a graduate mechanical engineer, he began his career as an engineering designer within the automotive industry, progressing through production management, into senior management and then managing director positions. Joining multi-disciplined engineering services company adi Group in 2008, his current role is as Group Strategic Account Director, as well as being Managing Director of adi Projects - a division which encompasses the 360 degree turnkey and self-delivery mantra of the adi Group. Wielding a full spectrum of capabilities, the business manages every aspect of an engineering project from the pre-feasibility and project definition stages right through to construction, commissioning and final hand-over.

Tina Lusty

Company Secretary, adi Group

Before adi Group, Tina worked as a civil engineer working in reinforced concrete, highways and precast concrete flooring. Since joining  Alan Lusty at the start of the adi journey, Tina has had a number of roles within adi and is currently the company secretary. As part of her role, Tina is a member of the main board, promotes careers within the industry and is passionate about engineering.

Suzanne Burton

Business Systems Director, adi Group

Since joining adi in 2013 as a contracts coordinator, Suzanne quickly progressed to Business Systems Development Manager and now, Business Systems Director. Her day-to-day job entails; building and rolling out new systems, updates, analysis, reporting and training to drive the business forwards and ensure continuous improvement remains at the top of our agenda. Suzanne is passionate about making adi a better place to work, and continues to work hard on making improvements, increasing efficiency and making the project engineers job a more efficient one, with greater analysis and control of their projects.

Ritchie Webb

Managing Director, adi Automotive

In 2011, Ritchie joined adi and started the Automotive business supporting the vehicle manufacturing industry with mechanical, electrical, data networks and lean manufacturing services. As a business, Ritchie is proud to be able to offer energy saving or metering solutions through the electrical and network teams as well as time, effort and money saving solutions through the lean and mechanical divisions, as well as economic EV charging through his VCS division, all whilst ensuring adi does its bit towards the net zero campaign.

Mike Parkins

Managing Director, adi Food & Beverage Services

With more than 30 years of experience within the food and beverage industry, Mike works as the managing director of adi Food and Beverage Services, as well as the operations director for adi Projects. Mike is responsible for a team that provides food and beverage process solutions, as well as the delivery of food and beverage projects across the UK. Using his experience and expertise, Mike also supplies food and beverage process consultancy and feasibility across the world and works with new and existing adi clients to develop first-class solutions.

Kevin Parsons

Managing Director, adi Automation

As the Managing Director of adi Automation Kevin provides direction and leadership to meet the company's mission and objectives Whilst ensuring the business complies  with all regulations relevant statutory and other. Kevin is an experienced corporate leader with extensive knowledge in the industrial automation industry.

Kevin has a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and working to ensure a safe, happy, productive and satisfying work environment for the team.

Martin Smith

Managing Director, adi Environmental Ltd

Martin is a managing director responsible for national service delivery and sustainable growth of multi-faceted environmental services, focusing on industrial and domestic water treatment alongside air hygiene services. He holds extensive experience within all areas of water treatment from both a mechanical, and chemical treatment basis. Over-seeing the strategic growth and development of the business into new and existing market sectors, Martin ensures that the company achieves its financial vision, mission and long term goals.

Brian Imrie

Managing Director, adi Facilities Engineering

Before becoming MD at adi Facilities Engineering, Brian Imrie worked as engineering facilities manager and focuses on the below as part of his role;

Simon Concar

Managing Director, adi Electrical

Simon joined adi in 2023 bringing with him over 20 years’ experience in the electrical and manufacturing sector. As Managing Director of adi Electrical Simon’s role is all encompassing and endeavours to ensure the delivery of the highest levels of safety and quality to our customers whilst delivering the financial performance and long-term goals of the business.

Simon’s interest in engineering and manufacturing is what started his career and is still his passion today, along with developing and supporting the future engineers of tomorrow through the adi apprenticeship programme.

Ellie Brady

Head of HR, adi Group

Ellie has joined adi as Head of HR with first-hand experience of the challenges faced by both developing and established businesses, she has previously worked in the engineering sector, delivering strategic HR requirements across a group of companies. Over the last 10 years, Ellie has developed as an HR generalist and has become MCIPD qualified gaining knowledge and experience in all aspects of HR. Aside from her day-to-day duties, Ellie also contributes to the Groups ‘Our People’ Continuous Improvement Programmes, taking an active role in continuing to develop our engagement, recruitment, and retention strategies to nourish an environment where employees feel truly valued.

Andrew Dunne

Managing Director, adi Ireland

Andrew has worked as a Managing Director of adi Ireland for the past 15 years. Previously, he has worked as engineering and project director / manager for a number of blue chip companies, but his current role consists of ensuring sustained and continuous growth of the company and staff. Within the adi Group, Andrew is passionate about new technologies, systems and practices, understanding, development and implementation of such.

Mike Slattery

Managing Director, adi Climate Systems

Since joining the business as managing director of adi Climate Systems, Mike is now accountable for the strategic direction and ambitious growth targets that we have set for the business. All about the numbers, Mike prides himself of setting design calculations right to ensure systems work correctly, whilst getting the average employee age down by encouraging youth into engineering. 

David Barnes

Managing Director, adi Intelligent Buildings

As managing director of adi Intelligent Buildings, David is responsible for the long-term vision and company strategy to deliver year on year growth through development of new and existing customers. David was attracted to adi by the Group's ability to be entrepreneurial come up with fresh ideas and make quick decisions enabling them to provide the best possible service to clients in an ever-changing environment.

Roy Cumberworth

Group QHSE & IT Director, adi Group

Roy joined adi Electrical Limited as systems and technical manager in 1998, and the rest is history! Providing a support function to adi Group Businesses, Roy is responsible for quality, health & safety, environmental compliance - specifically associated with ISO Standards - 9001, 14001, 45001 (formerly 18001). Roy is also in charge of IT strategy and support services, and maintaining certifications, accreditations and awards, whilst ensuring the Group works safely and within both UK and international law. Passionate about technology and automation, Roy also prides himself on maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.

Mark Ilic

Managing Director, adi Fire & Security

Mark has over 25 years of experience in the electronic security and life safety industry, building and managing multiple offices in the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Zimbabwe and at locations throughout the USA and his expertise encompasses all aspects of the fire and security industry from business development to senior management of up to 200 direct and indirect staff in different locations and time zones.

Marks in charge of the company’s long-term vision as well as its strategy, which intends to achieve year-on-year growth through the development of new and existing clients.

Richard Brown

Managing Director, adi Mechanical

Richard is the Managing Director of adi Mechanical and has gained significant experience over his 25-year career in which adi clients will benefit from. Richard has extensive strategic project delivery & operational experience within manufacturing, materials handling, automotive, food & FMCG markets. He has a proven track record of delivering a myriad of capital projects ranging from single line upgrades to large greenfield investments.

Richard is passionate about engineering and teamwork and is responsible for our first-class mechanical services, delivered from our five mechanical workshops strategically placed across the UK

Ian Wileman

Group Finance Director, adi Group

Since qualifying in finance more than 40 years ago, Ian has worked in the industry ever since. Having worked in businesses as diverse as car manufacturing, paper converting, clothing labels and plastic injection moulding, Ian is now responsible for the finances of all adi Group companies.
