At adi Group we firmly believe that the future success of any organisation is through its people… Passionate, talented and ambitious young people are essential to the next phases of our growth. adi’s growth plans can only be supported by ensuring we encourage and develop talented young people into engineering.
We pride ourselves in providing opportunities for inspired and ambitious young people to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to be successful in the workplace and achieve their full potential. The adi Apprentice Academy is the catalyst our business needs to bring sustainable business growth and allow us to develop and mentor enthusiastic engineering apprentices and recruits. Our Apprentice Academy gives committed and ambitious individuals an excellent first step towards their career within Engineering ensuring they are confident, competent and engaged within the business.
Working alongside our skilled and experienced staff to gain the required skills, whilst working towards a nationally recognised Technical and National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) qualification. The adi Apprentice Academy provides a tailored development programme and network with other apprentices within the business.
All apprentices are offered a wide range of work place experience and our Apprentice Academy is designed to fully support the learner throughout the duration of the apprenticeship training programme to become a highly capable, skilled and valued member of our work force.
In conjunction with BITC (Business in the Community) and our partner school Kings Norton Boys School, we have pioneered a “hands on” pre – apprenticeship programme aimed at 14 -16 year olds focusing on gaining the core hands on skills in electrical and mechanical engineering to inspire tomorrow’s engineers.
Modules include sheet metal fabrication, electrical installation, panel building and MIG welding. Students will use specialist tools and see demonstrations of specialist processes.
The students learn a multitude of skills which compliment their GCSE curriculum and will also help to facilitate progression onto full time apprenticeships. We also ensure they are equipped with improved and transferable skills such as communication, teamwork and problem solving.
Each student completes a comprehensive health and safety module to ensure they have a thorough understanding of working safely in an engineering environment. All modules are delivered by adi employees who have years of experience and qualifications in electrical installation, welding and sheet metal fabrication.
The students attend our head office in Kings Norton for half a day, once a week throughout their two years of GCSE's, where we have an allocated mentoring environment within a live manufacturing facility. Our bespoke workshops are integrated into the main workshop areas to reinforce the idea of being part of the “adi family”.
Accredited by EAL, a leading awarding body which operates at the heart of the engineering sector, offering engineering and manufacturing qualifications that are finely tuned to meet employer needs. On graduation, the students are awarded their qualification which can take them onwards into the world of engineering, or any other role they may choose.
